BELONGING: A TRAUMA-INFORMED DISCOVERY SERIES

Belonging: A Trauma-Informed Discovery Series is a 6-week training and development opportunity to support participants in expanding their capacity to listen, sense, and shift. The series highlights a basic understanding of trauma, which is the disruption of one’s sense of belonging to themselves and their communities. Participants learn how to listen for the presence of trauma as it presents in their bodies, lives, workplaces, communities, and those they serve. While broadening listening skills attuned to trauma present, participants also strengthen their ability to sense the feelings and thoughts that arise from trauma, and develop tools to shift toward trauma- informed behavioral changes that minimize the harm of persons within socially constructed minority groups.

KYND creates an interactive learning environment with participants that enables them to:

  • acquire a basic understanding of trauma, deepen their knowledge of how historical trauma shows up as trauma retentions and responses within humanity

  • expand their tool-kit of wellness resources to support the recovery process of traumatized populations

  • develop an understanding of the praxis of trauma-informed care.

This discovery series integrates the disciplines of:

  • narrative therapy

  • somatic experience

  • trauma theory

  • ritual

  • womanism

  • pastoral care

It creates opportunities for learning that inspire, transform, and restore. It relies heavily on the experiential learning process to support participants in the journey of embodying trauma-informed care behaviorally.
